Melody sat alone in a coffee shop, surrounded by various textbooks. Music textbooks. Music was her one and only love, besides learning more spells and such, and she couldn't live without it. But her coffee was cold, and it was late. Time to go. She picked up her things and tossed the almost empty cup in the trash. Mels adjusted her bag on her shoulder before heading out, her feet tapping against the sidewalk.

Blake noticed other people walk by the sidewalk, and he couldn't help but feel as if they were . . . Night World creatures. Maybe he was imagining it. Eh, he couldn't really tell. Curiously, but definitely cautiously, he watched the girl with blonde hair stalk down the street. The way she held herself . . . Blake blinked. Another vampire? And then, he slid his gaze towards a girl with a bag. She looked human. But . . . there was just something about her that he could feel.

He shook his head, pulling his away from his thoughts as he glanced up at the sky. It was nice and starry.

Melody tucked a piece of red hair behind her ear and kept walking, though she felt someone staring at her. She paused at a newsstand, hoping to look natural as her eyes swept around for whoever it was. They locked on a boy, and she blinked just a little bit before half smiling and picking up a paper.

Blake tore his gaze from the sky when he noticed the girl had sent him a small smile. He blinked, smiling back. In a friendly way. Vaguely, he wondered why these people are walking outside . . . alone and late at night.

Starling sat against the wall, his head tilted back as he watched the sky. He didn't really belong anywhere, which was quit sad, but of course he belonged to himself.

His coat flapped in the wind, the leather binding coming undone and he reached around himself, pulling it off and tying it around his neck like a tie.

"So what do you say, Raven?" Blake asked, looking around. Somehow, more people were appearing. Or creatures. He wasn't sure; nor did it bother him. "Want to take a run in the woods? Feed your hunger or something?" he asked. He wiggled his fingers in his pocket once again.

Raven tilted her head to the side when he wiggled his fingers. Was he dumb, or just wanted to be hurt?

"Sure. Let's go... feed." She said and stepped forward, looping her arm through his drmataically, and coincidently the one which he kept wiggling his fingers, and started forward.

Blake smiled a bit, rolling his eyes. He let Raven drag him, keeping his arm loose around hers. He was surprised that he was easily, yet a bit slowly still, letting his wariness disappear.

"There's one at the end of the other block . . . you know, the one with the sign that says 'Restricted Area'? Yeah, it was a pretty nice . . . place to run and feed in. There were a few animals in there, too." Blake took a deep, eager breath.

Raven smiled when she felt him loosen up a bit. That was nice. At least she still had a good affect on people. Even if she could kick their asses at times.

She raised her eyebrows in curiosity at him. "Why is it restricted though?' She asked, making a beeline for it.

Blake shrugged. "I don't know, honestly. Perhaps the humans didn't want other humans getting hurt by the small amount of wild animals in there?" he guessed, using his free hand to scratch his cheek. He could smell it; the moist smell of grass and moss, the warm spring air from the trees . . .

"You know, this is probably the closest place I have to a sanctuary," Blake said thoughtfully. He idly remembered the place where he and his father lived; near the mountains. Not polluted in any way.

Raven nodded and pursed her lips, "Yea. They can be really dumb sometimes with animals. They think we're all nice and fluffy, when we aren't." She said, watching him scratch. "Would you like to.. change?" She asked, raising her eyebrows.

She nodded and sniffed the air, "I can see why you say that. It's clean." She murmured, "If you don't want me here I can go." She said, after a moment of thinking. If it was a safe place for him, maybe she shouldn't intrude.

Blake snorted, a little bit of bitterness coating his agreement. "Yeah," he muttered. Humans can be dumb. Like those human hunters who killed his- he stopped the thought almost as instantly as it came. "They can be. But," he shrugged.

He glanced at her, surprised. "Well, if you don't mind. Or I'll just do it when we enter the little woods." He sent her a small smile.

Staring intently at her, Blake wondered if he should say yes. But he doesn't . . . particularly mind that Raven would go and hunt with him. He pushed his territorial feelings aside and offhandedly waved his free hand, shaking his head. "Nah, it's fine. Plus, you seem really hungry."

Raven snickered at the snort, finding it kind of funny. "Yep. But?" She asked, wondering why he didn't finish what he was saying.

She chuckled and nodded, "I agree with that. Wouldn't want to scare the people, now would we?" She said, eyeing a family that was walking by.

Raven nodded slowly and tipped her head down. "It's okay if you don't want me there. I can find another place--" She broke off and licked her lips. Or not.

"I have to protect them," Blake said, little glint in his yellow eyes. "Even if they don't deserve it and so on," he added. His gaze shifted to the family that was walking by, and slightly tugged on Raven's arm to hurry up. He was worried that she'll lose control and just jump. He could probably take it if she would bite him, but Blake wasn't so sure.

"Come on," Blake said instead, cautiously looking around the area and pushing the wired-fence-gate open.

Raven's eyes snapped to his and she pursed her lips, "I'll help you protect them.." She said, suddenly, then her eyes flashed to a silver color. She pulled her arm out of his grasp and shook her head, "I don't know what you think about vampires, but I can generally control myself." She snarled and stepped through the open gate, breathing deeply.
